Backlinks

Time to catch up on a few link requests. Here are some recent emails asking for a backlink... done. All you need to do is ask and remember to help others out in return.

Hello,

My name is Remi, and I am a college student that is trying to test out the waters of the online world. About a year ago I created a guide that I was selling on eBay showing other people how they can make money online using a few different venues. About 2 months ago, I decided that I would much rather just give this information away for free, and instead support the site using Adsense ads. However, unlike with selling a guide on eBay, with a website, even if its free quality information, it takes time and work to get visitors.

Over the last 3 weeks I have been looking for quality websites similar to mine, ones that I can take an example from and learn how they got so successful and continue to draw in readers and visitors day after day. I haven't had much success with finding much that I liked, but little by little I come across a few good ones that teach me a lot. It is those sites that I learned most from, and that I would be thrilled if I could work with them somehow to make my website grow. Your website was immediately caught my attention, because it looks professional, is well established, and looks like it has a similar niche as mine.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get a link on your homepage. I've learned that external links pointing to my website are a great way to improve search engine traffic and gain more visitors. I don't mind if the link is on the bottom bottom of the page, or somewhere on the side, any kind of link would be of great help! I would like to pay for the link if that is OK with you, I would like to buy the text link in 3 month chunks. Please let me know how much money you would like me to pay. My website is a decent PR with a PR 2 so Google will not penalize for linking to junk pages - I have spent a great deal of time on my website and I believe it is of good quality.

My website address is: http://www.beatmyauction.com
And I would like this or a shortened variation as the link text: "Make Money Online: Google Adsense, Buy Wholesale, Sell on eBay"

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Remi S.

Consider this hearing from me Remi. Good luck with your site - very nicely laid out BTW. Thanks for offering to buy a link but that's not necessary.

And for something short and to the point...

Hi,

I found your blog very interesting and put it to my blog with the same "web theme" as yours. I wonder if we can exchange links since we are discussing the same "topics" in our blog. By the way, my site is:

Make Money Online

As you have mentioned, let's help each other to support fellow bloggers. :) See ya...

Thanks.

Your welcome... you might want to leave your name in future - just a politeness thing.

and for something intriguing...

Grizzly,

Thanks for the great blog. It made me re-check all of the steps I take for my sites. Although I did do many of the things you mentioned in your articles you made me realize a few things that were not up to par. Again, thanks very much.

On another note, in one of your articles you mentioned that you are a "get rich quick junkie" as am I. I did come across a biz opp that is quite unique and wondered if I could share it with you. If so, please let me know.

Thanks again for all the useful info. Hopefully, you continue posting because I will be back.

Paul W.

Thanks for the note Paul and when next you drop by feel free to fill me in on your "biz opp". I'm always looking...

And now for a little free advertising or does he just want my opinion...

Dear Grizzly,

Thank you for the wealth of information you have provided on your
web site. You have helped us get a considerably better insight into
the pitfalls and advantages of selling on the internet. By the way,
my name is Mark. My email address is (removed).

We are in the process of learning your blogging techniques and
the use of SEO's. All of the info. you have provided is really great
and I wish I had more info to give you. Right now, the info. I have
now that might interest you is a web site called submitexpress.com
that offers free search engine submissions to over 20 search engines
including all the major ones such as google, ask, msn, etc.
The phone number is (removed).

In your reference to free web sites, I have obtained a free web site
from Michelle Andrews. The web address is www.yaswebsites.com/M359839W/.
I know that you have said free web sites are not free, but this one is.
She doesn't ask for any money or a hosting fee and it lists three of
the currently hot products on the web today.

I will continue to read your lessons and probably will have some
questions for you down the road. Thank you again and if you have
the time, I'd like your feedback on my web site.

Thank you,

The Svet

Mark, I must admit that I didn't check out the free search engine submission site as I never submit to search engines. I find it a waste of time and quite frankly if you do things right the search engines find you. In truth there are only three search engines that matter... Google, Yahoo and MSN. I have tested several sites over the years and found that I get indexed just as fast not submitting my sites as I do submitting them. The key seems to be content. Lots of original content does the trick and maybe a link or two.

I'm glad you didn't pay for the "Free Website". These are common enough nowadays since the "Rich Jerk" started this system. In effect you are promoting a canned site that is identical to thousands of others and you will have to spend money getting PPC traffic to it. It will never get indexed as it screams duplicate content so don't hold your breath waiting for search engine traffic. Another problem with these sites is that you will never know if you get all the sales you should as you don't control the server and have no way of knowing how many visitors you get, who they are or where they came from and ultimately if they bought anything. These really are a leap of faith and I would caution people to stay away from so-called free websites. In essence you will be paying (getting traffic) to build someone else's list for them as well as allowing them to sell stuff on your page that you won't see a dime in commissions for.

Sorry to say Mark but this isn't a good idea. Build your own site (it really isn't that hard) or a blog and always control your own pages. These canned sites may seem like a fast way to get an online business going but they really are a bad way to do things and moreover they don't work.

And I Tee Off in half an hour...

Later Folks.

Grizzly
